According to the motto of the National Park "Let nature be nature", the adventure trail conveys well-founded knowledge from wolf research for a considerate approach to this fascinating mammal.

Actively take knowledge with you

Alexander Borchard from Familotel Borchards Rookus reads a wolf story to the children in the fairy tale hut during the opening of the trail. Young and old, as well as Minister Till Backhaus are very quiet and listen with great interest.

On two exciting kilometers, the adventure trail communicates well-founded wolf knowledge to children and adults.

The way of life and the history of the wolf are conveyed through lovingly designed stations by the wolf experts Lotta and Lars and invite to participate: Since when are the wolves back here? Where do they live and what do they eat? And: are these animals dangerous for humans?

All these questions are answered along the interactive trail. With the help of thinking and physical activity, behavioral patterns of wolves can be learned and thus better understood. Those who find it difficult to sit still can turn the language of wolves into active play and inspect the historic wolf trapping pit. In the fairy tale hut, the myths surrounding the legendary animal are addressed and light is shed on them.

Windthrow from 2014 with 6-year-old young growth

On June 11, 2014, storm "Ela" caused a total of 13 hectares of pine forest and some beech trees to fall in the Müritz National Park. Insights into the forest dynamics are given by the 5 km longcircular trail to the windthrow, which is tangent to the Wolf Trail. Both trails invite you to take a longer tour through a wide variety of forest scenery.

The Windwurf Trail can also be combined very well with the Wolf Trail (see here interactive map).
